Please noteThe SCAN interview can be administered by the traditional paper and pencil method or supported by computer assisted interview software. SCAN data can be used to generate dimensional and categorical outcomes. SCAN interview algorithims for generating diagnostic categories corresponding to ICD-10 and DSM-IV criteria are currently supported by the sofware and updates corresponding to DSM-5 (and in due course ICD-11) are being developed.

Software Download

The program is available as of 22 December 1999. Version 1.0.4.6 (2005) is available in English, Danish and Dutch.
The software is provided free of charge to those who have done the SCAN course in a WHO Training and Research Center. Only they will be given the password which is required for installation. The program encompasses the interview (in English) and the diagnostic algorithms for ICD-10 and DSM-IV. It runs under Windows 98 and Vista Only.The most recent version of the scan software is available for download. Click the appropriate version to do so:

J-SCAN Software

* Dr. Gabriel de Erausquin has been developing a Java-based SCAN program called “J-SCAN”  which can be run on any OS (e.g. Windows, Mac, Linux, Mobile devices) with the proper Java runtime installation (Java7 or later). (Installation/set-up instruction will be available soon).
